Passengers who need special assistance

Free-of-charge additional assistance for passengers who need special care can be ordered before flight
to
customerservice@flyairpoland.com.pl.

Disabled persons:

  • For passengers requiring wheelchairs the carrier can provide special equipment and transport from a departure lounge to an aircraft and from an aircraft to an arrival lounge.
  • If the passenger travels with his own wheelchair it will be collected by a handling agent just before boarding
    an aircraft and put in an aircraft’s hold. After landing it will be delivered to a passenger immediately after landing.
  • Passengers who are not able to board an aircraft unaided will get appropriate help from a handling agent.
  • Blind persons are allowed to travel with a guide dog, if it’s wearing a muzzle.

 

Pregnant women:

The doctor's approval for air travel is not required:

  • For women up to the 34 week (valid for return journey) of normal single pregnancy.
  • For women up to the 28 week (valid for return journey) of high-risk or multiple pregnancy.
  • Otherwise the doctor’s approval is required.

 

 

Transportation of disabled passengers and passengers with reduced mobility (PRM)

 

  • Assistance to passengers can be ordered by sending an e-mail to address customerservice@flyairpoland.com.pl  at the latest 48 hours before departure time indicated on the ticket.

·         Seats at the emergency exits are not assigned to disabled passengers as well as to those with reduced mobility, children below 15, elderly persons and expectant mothers. Passengers mentioned above have the right for priority check-in and boarding.

·         In Community Member States passengers with reduced mobility obtain necessary help from airports including transportation between aircraft and terminals. At the airports outside European Union requested assistance is arranged by Air Poland or its representatives.

·         Passengers can keep their own wheelchairs until boarding the aircraft, where ramp agent will put passenger’s wheelchair in the cargo hold. After arrival to destination wheelchair will be returned to passenger just after disembarkation.

·         Wheelchairs  being passenger’s property are carried on Air Poland flights free of charge.

·         Due to safety reasons only wheelchairs with dry or gel batteries as well as manpowered are accepted for carriage on Air Poland flights.

·         Wheelchairs with wet batteries are not accepted by Air Italy Polska for air carriage.

·         Passengers incapable to board the airplane or move inside the cabin will obtain necessary assistance from qualified ground personnel or cabin crew.

·         Blind passengers can travel accompanied by guide dog. The dog must were a mug and be adequately trained.

·         The limitations of number of disabled passengers and PRMs:

 

1.       There is no limit in number of passengers requiring wheelchair at the terminal area or on the ramp.

2.       There is the limit to 4 passengers requiring wheelchair transportation to the cabin or on board of the aircraft, however number of passengers requiring wheelchair on board cannot be higher than 2.

3.       There is no limitation in number of blind or deaf passengers whether they travel with personal assistance or alone.

  1. There is no limitation for disabled passengers and PRMs other than mentioned above.

 

·         The assistance of able passenger is required for PRM, if such person is unable to take the following actions by him/herself:

1.     Apply medicines

2.     Eat, drink

3.     Use the toilet

4.     Communicate with cabin crew

5.     Use of onboard safety and emergency equipment (seatbelts, oxygen mask, life vest)

6.     Get to emergency exit

 

 

There are some recommendations concerning the age of pregnancy and health conditions of expectant mothers.

 

·         Given below there are caesuras recommended by AIP: 

until the 34th week of pregnancy in situation of single pregnancy without any complications;

until the 28th week of pregnancy for known complications or multiple expected birth.

 

In all cases it is highly recommended to carry certificate signed by a doctor, stating mothers health and age of pregnancy.

After 34th week of pregnancy women are not advised to travel with air. Travelling by air is also not advisable for women, who have given birth within 7 days before flight.
